Estate Filing Information
Who pays the bill when the customer expires?
 | Review your account for other responsible parties and continue
your
collection efforts, if available.
|
 | Immediately inform your third party collection agents of this
change to the
account. The following information will be helpful:
 | Date of death. |
 | County that the customer resided. |
 | Your knowledge regarding any estate filings. |
 | Who is the legal representative or next of kin. |
|
 | If you possess some or all of the information, then:
 | Call the County Clerk's Office to determine if a
death certificate has been filed. |
 | Check the County Probate Court to ascertain if
any estate has been filed. If it has, obtain the
file number, the personal representative, the
estate's attorney name and address and the
deadline for filing the claim. The Court's address
will be necessary in order to file the claim. |
 | Review local newspapers for the publication
notice of the estate. All the information needed
will be included within the notice. |
|
 | If you are sure that the estate has not be filed, contact the
spouse
or the next of kin for information.
 | File the claim with the respective County Probate
Court, Personal Representative and estate
